Florida Trails Tour, Jan 2006

These two parrots flew and lighted on this pine tree next to a bridge over US 19A on the Pinellas Trail. There was also an Orprey eating a fish just below the parrots. Lucky to be there when they were and having my camera!

Florida Trails Tour, Jan 2006

Always a favorite of my tour guest is lunch at the Greek Restaurant named Hellas at the sponge docks in Tarpon Springs. We had ridden from Dunedin on the Pinellas Trail to tarpon Springs about 15 miles at this point. Most riders finished with about 30 miles this day after riding out to Honeymoon Island on the return to the Best Western Yacht Club Inn in Dunedin, FL. A great day for riding with temperatures in the 70's.

This is sunset at Mt. Dora, Fl, taken from the lawn of Lakeside Inn on Tuesday, January 17, 2006. One of the most breathtaking sights I have ever seen for a sunset!

Bicycling on Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA

While one has to have proper identification to obtain a pass and enter this US Army base located in mid-town Savannah, it's well worth the time and effort to ride your bicycle here. Most every Tuesday and Thursday, a group of men who are 70 years old or older (They call themselves Age in Motion Riders, "AIM" for short), ride about 25 miles on the perimeter road at this base. Today, Pat Mango (86 years old), Jerald Pollack (78 years old) and myself (78 years old) were joined by three very nice ladies. They were from Riedsville, GA; Summerville, SC and New Hampshire. Pictured here riding out to Lott's Landing Marina and recreation area for this US Army base at about the 10 mile marker of the 20 miles we did today.

High Altitude at Capital One Bowl

Our seats were five rows from the top of the upper deck, my guest George Cheney had triple by pass surgery recently, but he made it to the top after walking the ramp and steps. This view shows how high we were!

"Tiger Walk" before Capital One Bowl

The players and coaches are bussed near the entrance to the gate where thier locker rooms are located. The time of arrival is published and the Auburn fans line the walk way with about 8,000 screaming "War Eagle", the battle cry for the team. UNfortunalely, it didn't seem to motivate the team today!

The Capital One Bowl Jan 2, 2006

My first bowl game since graduating from Auburn University in 1952 and looking forward to seeing Auburn play as well as they did for the final games in the SEC, and what did I get!??? The worst game Auburn has played in two years! Dropped passes, inaccurate passes, turnovers, beaten on the line of scrimmage first the first time since the opening game loss. Wisconsin 24 Auburn 10.
But it wasn't all a loss, enjoyed Tiger Walk (see [picture above), Auburn's band had more tuba's than Wisconsin's band (Hooray!), was a beautiful day and wasn't too bad with $6.00 cups of beer and $5.00 hotdogs.
