Nester Cup

The Nester Cup is a series of road bicycling races began several years ago by Nester Gerney in Savannah, GA. These races started with just a handful of guys and gals and has grown to 57 riders in the "A" group (more advanced riders and eleven different teams) and 20 riders in the "B" group. Yours truly has been previleged to assist in these races this year starting in the late Spring and ending in the early Fall, they consist of road races, criteriums, time trials and team time trials. Today I assisted in a road race where the "A" group bicycled over 60 miles and the "B" pedaled for over 40 miles in Rocky Ford, GA roadways in blistering heat with the heat index over 110 degrees. The pictures included with this post will show you some of these people!
Have duplicate picture here, don't know how to delete it. The pictures above of the two men are Nester on the left and Bill Sellers on the right, the race director of the day. Other pictures show the riders getting ready to start and one group on the road. Notice the duplicate picture of a group on the road, if you will look at the third person from the right, that's Angie, a female that WON the "B" group race today, beating all the men in that group!

Why I have not posted my blog!

The reasons my blog hasn't been posted!

1) No time. There was once a farmer who could not finish his plowing during day light, so one evening as darkness was falling he looked up into the heavens and cried out, God, give me more time!”. In a heavy God like voice, God said, “There is no more time, give me more YOU!” So, that's what I am doing, at 2:10am, posting to my blog! (more of me!) . Since I am working two jobs to make ends meet, I have let time be a problem!

2) Camera broken: Now you would think that would be a good excuse, wouldn't you? But it's really not! While the flash is broken (can still take pictures by asking the camera to NOT flash) and the door that covers the little GB disc and the outlet plug to download is broken, I could put some tape over that to keep dust and other minute flying particles from getting inside.

3) Battteries run down. THis is related to the “time” problem. Someone said, Dave, why don't you charge your batteries while you are sleeping??? Duh!

Well, maybe I can get myself in gear, take pictures with my broken camera and start posting again! Specially when Holly and I visit her Son in Seattle in September and stay at his cottage on Pearl Island where we can watch killer whales in the sound, catch Salmon, get Dungeness crabs from the boat dock and take the boat back to San Juan Island for shopping, bike riding and golf each day. You see, there are no cars on small Pearl Island, only a few cottages and a LOT of nature.
Then maybe, I can take pictures of the several hundred people coming to the last Historic Savannah Bikefest I have been doing for a number of years. Because I am finally retiring from all my three events this year (since I will be 80 years old in November, it's time to slow down and smell the flowers!) and will do only tours in the next year. Come on Dave, take a lot of pictures of your last event.
Well, now you know why I haven't posted! I will bet you a dime that no one cares either!!!!
