Prescriptions and diabetics
Twelve years ago I was diagnosed as Type II diabetic. To make a long story short, I lost weight and started exercising and got control of my blood sugar. Over the past twelve years, I have gradually slipped back up the weight scale and because of business pressures (and lack of a committed exercise plan) to again have my blood sugar creep back up. My doctor has recently prescribed a thyroid, cholesterol and a nose spay (To help with allergies). When getting them filled at my friendly "cheap" Wal Mart Pharmacy, I was charged $212.00 for this ONE MONTH supply of pills and nose spray that probably weighed a TOTAL of 10 ounces. This equates to $339.20 per pound. Can you believe this stuff cost that much to make???
Since I cannot afford this every month, I have made the commitment to start exercising again every day (bicycling is my choice exercise) and start Dr. Atkins low carbohydrate diet. After four days riding 13 miles a day and eating less carbohydates, my weight is down a couple pounds and this morning my blood sugar was (119) substantially lower than my last visit to my doctor's office (it was 244 that day).
My point being, if anyone out there in BLOG land is reading this message, and you are Type II diabetic, make sure you have a exercise and eating plan that works for you. It will help prevent the many side effects that diabetics causes!
