Trailblazer Ride

In Savannah Georgia there is a road that leads to Tybee Island, a beach community at the very end of US 80, a cross country highway. A very dangerous road on the causeway leading to the island for bicyclist. This event was to raise money for the East Coast Greenway which eventually will be a bike/pedestrian trail for Maine to the Florida Keys. Promoted by the Savannah Bicycle Campaign, 150 people showed up to ride with a police escort from Tybee to Johnson Square in downtown Savannah, a 21 mile distance ridden by all types of cyclist.
More about this event that happened today:

Pictures below are SCAD bike club marshals, registration, Me and Pam, the riders ready to roll and on the road (Paul Wolff just ahead of people in yellow) on his Easy Rider bicycle, a Tybee City Councilman who had never ridden 21 miles! Paul is a politician who strongly believes in better bicycling!
